BARF
dog food, manufactured in Croatia from ingredients intended for human use - HUMAN GRADE BARF, Biological Appropriate Raw Food or Bones and Raw Food.
Many will wonder why again, another new dog food, and what is the difference? How is it different from all the other veterinary recommended foods that have flooded the market?
Here is why:
Dogs, as all other animals, used to eat food appropriate for their metabolism. Once integrated into human society, and taken in to service they continued to eat such food, with the exception that the obligation to provide it was taken on by humans. In time, as the dynamics of human life intensified, the conditions of food production were changed, too.
Man ceased to hunt and sow solely for his own and his family's purposes, or for his dog or cow for that matter. At that time, the industrial production of all necessities began. In production of food, there are always parts of the raw material which are inappropriate and have to be discarded. It is discarded in order not to harm the intended user, i.e. MAN.
What of that raw material? Is such, for human use inappropriate food good enough for animal nutrition? NO! Anything harmful to humans is harmful to dogs as well.
That is why ANIMA-BARF is produced only from raw material that has been cleared for human use. Amongst the first to understand the importance of feeding dogs with human grade quality food was Hermann Palmer, a well known Doberman breeder. He didn’t stop there, but continued to frequent nutritionist classes in order to attain information on raw material, and started to study dog and cat metabolism. He also applied that knowledge on his own cats and dogs. As his skills grew, the animals developed faster and grew healthier. In time, he achieved perfection. He split the food in two groups: instant and right. This food is produced in concordance with the Hermann Palmer concept, and on the basis of knowledge attained in mutual breeding. THIS IS THE RIGHT DOG FOOD!
Why is this right dog food?
Dogs are essentially carnivores, as most beasts are, but like cats, they are not exclusively carnivores. Dogs being canide, eat certain body parts of their prey, that contain the food it has eaten. As their primary prey are herbivores, that food is unprocessed herbs left behind in the gastric tract of the prey. The concept is also based on the fact that all animals eat raw food. Dogs being in man's company for a comparatively short time, especially when measured against the duration of evolution, and eating prepared food for even shorter time, their metabolism didn't have enough time to adapt, and so could not process inappropriate food.
ANIMA BARF is dog food produced in accordance to dog metabolism, and ANIMA GASTRO is the food for dogs with problems of metabolism, that occur due to consummation of the food inappropriate for dog metabolism.
You are always welcome to check out the raw material we produce food for your dog. Can you do that by some other dog food producer?
These are the basic raw materials used to make BARF by Animacanis
- Cattle proventriculus
- Cattle guts
- Meat from the head
- Fourth grade beef
- Liver
- Bones
- Larynx
These are the basic raw materials that make up around 90% of the food. The remnant is consisted of plant material, essential for its fiber content (cellulose, fiber), and also it’s chemical content as supplement to animal based foodstuffs. 2-3% is made up of supplements whose use is to enrich the food with vitamins, essential acids, to stop the oxidation.... All the supplements are of natural origin such as garlic, line and olive oil and beer yeast.
This concept of food preparation was guided by the idea that dogs are mammals, beasts i.e. carnivores, and that nutrients that make up the food support the functioning of the organism, sustain life and assure the health of each living being, dogs included. Nutrients are divided up in to six basic groups: water, carbohydrates, proteins, fats, minerals and vitamins. The most important condition to be fulfilled is to keep the nutrients in a natural condition and that they are present in the organism in adequate quantities. This means that the quantities are such as dog would find in natural environment, if it were taking care of his nourishment without human help.
Why is that important?
The purpose of consummation of food is to satisfy the needs for energy, and the process of transforming food to energy is called metabolism. What is metabolism? It is the transformation of solar energy to other forms of energy. Solar energy through photosynthesis allows plant growth. Plants are eaten by herbivores, who in turn are eaten by carnivores. Carcasses of both end up in soil where the plant roots bring them back to the plants. This circle is going on for eons, it works perfectly, and any interference will result in unwanted reactions. Therefore, dogs need vitamins, in quantities and conditions as found in natural food, minerals from sources available to canidae for millennia, meaning mostly bone and minerals of plant origin, found in prey’s intestines. Protein of animal origin, from prey’s tissue, in adequate quantities proportional to percentages found in natural source which is of course, meat. The same goes for fats and carbohydrates. Water, and water is by far the most important nutrient, because even small shortage in comparison to e.g. fats or proteins can have serious consequences, even death very quickly. Therefore, the food has to contain an adequate the same percentage of water that the natural canide food contains. They being carnivores, the food has to contain around 70% of water.
It also needs to be mentioned that the aforesaid nutrients are not always of, for dog’s metabolism, acceptable origin. Too many wheat? based carbohydrates are not acceptable to dog nutrition, and so are not too large quantities of fats no matter their high energy value. The same goes for all other nutrients. Every food content has to be such that is recognized by dog’s metabolism, so it can react accordingly and allow it to efficiency it’s food. Such food is labeled to be of high metabolic value or high efficiency.
BARF is such a food!
